Apple iPhone Fold vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8: 5 Big Differences To Expect

Two of the most anticipated foldables of 2026 are arriving within months of each other. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 is likely to bring a larger 8-inch display and 200MP camera system, while Apple’s iPhone Fold is expected to counter with titanium build, dual 48MP cameras and Touch ID revival. Both are likely to be priced around Rs 1,89,999, making the choice genuinely difficult.

iPhone Fold vs Z Fold 8
The foldable smartphone segment is about to get a lot more interesting. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected around July 2026 and Apple is finally set to enter the foldable space with the iPhone Fold arriving in September. Two completely different philosophies, two different ecosystems and two very different approaches to what a foldable phone should be. Here’s a look at five key differences to expect between these two flagship foldables.

Display Size And Design Philosophy
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to have a 8-inch main AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,600 nits peak brightness, paired with a 6.5-inch outer screen protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The iPhone Fold, by contrast, takes a more compact approach- a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer screen, measuring roughly 9–9.5mm thick when closed and slimming down to around 4.5–4.8mm when unfolded. Build Quality And Durability
The iPhone Fold is expected to use premium titanium for its frame, the same material Apple introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro lineup, with a strong focus on dust and scratch resistance for everyday durability. Samsung’s Z Fold 8 sticks with its established build language, using Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the outer display.

Camera Systems
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is likely to carry a triple rear setup with a 200-megapixel main sensor, 12-megapixel ultrawide and 10-megapixel telephoto, plus a 10-megapixel front camera. The iPhone Fold is likely to have dual 48-megapixel rear cameras and 18-megapixel selfie cameras on both displays. (Image Credits: FPT)

Price And Launch Window
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to arrive in India around July 2026, with pricing likely falling between Rs 1,85,000 and Rs 1,95,000. The iPhone Fold is anticipated to launch between September 3–9, 2026, with a starting price of around Rs 1,89,999 in India. Both sit in similar price territory, which makes the direct comparison even more relevant. (Image Credits: AppleTrack)

Battery, Performance And Biometrics
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to offer a 5000 mAh battery, roughly 13 per cent larger than its predecessor with possible 45W or 60W charging support. The iPhone Fold is most likely to come with a 5400 mAh cell, running on the new C2 modem with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM. One interesting twist on the iPhone Fold, Touch ID may return alongside Face ID, a combination Samsung doesn’t currently offer on its foldable lineup.
