Samsung Users May Soon Share Media With iPhones Using AirDrop: Here’s how

In a recent buzz in the tech circle, Samsung is reportedly planning to offer support for Apple’s AirDrop file sharing to its Galaxy mobiles, likely to begin with the purported Samsung Galaxy S26 series. A fresh report indicates that the feature may arrive via software updates, letting Galaxy devices share files directly with iPhones without needing third-party apps. This move is anticipated to improve cross-platform compatibility and help users transfer media between Apple and Android devices.
How Samsung Users Could Exchange Files With iPhones Without Apps
According to EBN News Centre (a report in Korean), Won-joon Choi, the President and COO of Samsung’s mobile division, stated at a press event in Japan that the feature may arrive in phases. After the rollout, users may share videos, photos, and documents between Galaxy phones and Apple devices using Samsung’s Quick Share feature.
How The Feature Could Work
Previously, several leaks surfaced online, pointing out a similar update. It suggested that the upcoming feature is expected to work with iPhone, Mac computers, and iPad, with users needing to turn on AirDrop visibility on their Apple devices, while Samsung’s smartphones could disconnect from Wi-Fi for a brief period of time.
Previously, Google announced that Pixel devices could exchange media with Apple phones. By enabling file transferring, Android smartphones and Apple devices could form a peer-to-peer connection without needing any external services. Moreover, the company revealed that it is planning to expand this support feature to more Android devices in the near future.
Apple’s AirDrop is a popular feature that enables fast media sharing across Macs, iPads, and iPhones. It has kept users within Apple’s ecosystem. Reportedly, this factor has often impacted the buying choices of users, even when the competition provides solid hardware. Samsung has also highlighted its Smart Switch tool in the past. It lets users move apps and media from an iPhone to Galaxy smartphones.
