OnePlus May Shut Down India Operations By 2027, Report Claims

In a shocking news, Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus may stop operating in India by 2027 as part of a global restructuring, according to a Bloomberg report. The report claims the company is planning to gradually shut down its business outside China, including in India. However, OnePlus has not officially confirmed these plans. Times Now Digital has reached out to OnePlus India for a statement, and this story will be updated once the company responds.
According to the report, OnePlus is expected to begin shutting down its operations in the US and Europe as early as this week. The move is reportedly part of a larger restructuring at its parent company Oppo. The report, citing a person familiar with the matter, said OnePlus will continue operating in China but may eventually exit other markets, including India, by 2027.

If the reported plan goes ahead, it would be a major decision for OnePlus. India is one of the world’s largest smartphone markets, with more than 750 million smartphone users, making it a key market for almost every smartphone brand looking to grow.
Exiting India would be a massive step for the company. It is also unclear what this would mean for existing OnePlus users, including software updates, after-sales service, warranty support and future product availability, as the company has not shared any official details.
The Bloomberg report also said that Realme, another smartphone brand owned by Oppo, will exit the China market as part of the same restructuring. The Chinese tech giant is said to be reviewing its smartphone business because of financial challenges and slower growth in markets such as the US, Europe and India.
The report added that geopolitical concerns around Chinese smartphone brands in the US, along with an ongoing trade secrets lawsuit involving Apple, have also influenced the company’s reported strategy.
As part of the restructuring, Oppo is expected to focus more on Central Europe. The report also said Realme will continue selling smartphones in Nordic countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, where the brand has performed better.
At present, OnePlus continues to sell its products in India, and there has been no official announcement about an exit from the market. Existing users can continue using their devices as usual.
