After months of rumours and leaks, Samsung has officially launched its first Ultra-branded foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The new foldable arrives as the most premium model in the company’s lineup, packing an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, a 200MP flagship camera, the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and a long list of Galaxy AI features. Open the phone and you’re greeted by an 8-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an adaptive refresh rate that scales from 1Hz to 120Hz. Fold it shut and there’s a 6.5-inch AMOLED cover display, which also refreshes at up to 120Hz. Inside, Samsung has equipped the foldable with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. Interested customers can choose between 12GB or 16GB of RAM, with storage options going all the way up to 1TB.
Coming to the cameras, the rear setup includes a 200-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilisation, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens capable of 3x optical zoom. There’s also a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the cover screen, while the inner display hides another 10-megapixel under-display camera to keep the large screen as distraction-free as possible.
The foldable ships with Android 17-based One UI 9 and comes with features like Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief, Now Nudge, Gemini Notebook, enhanced privacy alerts and Samsung’s latest Knox security tools. Support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, 5G, IP48 water resistance and Wireless PowerShare is also onboard.
Keeping everything running is a 5000 mAh battery. Samsung claims the phone can reach 67 percent charge in around 30 minutes using the bundled 45W wired charging standard, while 20W wireless charging is also supported. The foldable weighs 215 grams and measures just 4.1mm when unfolded.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra comes in Graphite, Cream and Violet Shadow, while Green Shadow will be sold exclusively through Samsung’s online store.

Pre-orders begin on July 22 in select markets, with customers also receiving a six-month Google AI Pro subscription, including 5TB of cloud storage. Samsung is yet to announce India pricing for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
