US President Donald Trump has taken a dig at Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei over the ongoing debate around AI slowdown. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said that AI needs a strong and smart president to stay under control. He also said that the US is leading China in AI and will continue to do so.
“The only control or guardrails that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades! The Trump Administration has stopped AI “people” from doing bad, or potentially bad, things, like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a “perfect little angel” – and we will continue to do so! We already have tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power over these companies!,” he said.
Trump said that the US government already has strong criminal and regulatory powers over AI companies. He also claimed that there is a “SICK conspiracy” against AI and data centres. According to him, China is the only country happy about this.

Trump said that the US is ahead of China and other countries in AI development. He added that the US will continue to lead the race.
“WHOEVER WINS AI, WINS! We are leading China, and all others, and will continue to do so. Conspiracy Theorists, Treasonists, Traitors, and Leakers, BEWARE! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he wrote.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has previously called for more safety measures for advanced AI. He has also suggested placing third-party watchdogs inside AI companies.
The proposal received support from several major technology executives, including SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
As of now, while Trump has stressed the importance of keeping the US ahead in the global AI race, some technology leaders and researchers are calling for greater safeguards
