Elon Musk Has A Message For Sam Altman And Dario Amodei: Test Chinese AI Models

The China vs US AI war is hot right now without a doubt, and in these times with the tycoons from the US taking active war in the same. However, Elon Musk has surprised everyone with his latest message for OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, as he has asked both of them to work with Chinese AI firms.
Musk has also recommended both the firms to independently test each other’s models before releasing them to public. In his speech at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles, the Tesla CEO proposed that firms like OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, Google, and xAI and three to four Chinese firms should let rivals run a common ‘test harness’ on their models. His proposal lands at a time when AI leaders are debating over how quickly the tech should be developed and how governments should regulate it.
Elon Musk said that AI companies should stop ‘grading your own homework’ and allow competitors to examine their models for potential safety concerns before public release. Musk said, ‘So, you know, instead of grading your own homework, you would at least have competitors grading your homework and raising alarm if they see concerns.’
According to the proposal, frontier AI firms would use a common testing system to evaluate one another’s models. Musk also accepted that the approach may not be perfect, but justified it by saying that involving competitors would increase the chances of identifying potential problems.
He said, ‘The odds that you will find issue are dramatically greater. What I’m suggesting here is it’s a step in the right direction and it’s something that we do quickly. I think it’s probably something that China would agree to.’ It will be more than interesting to see if something like that actually gets manifested if all the firms agree with the idea or even resonate with it.
