Meta Buys AI Agent Social Platform Moltbook In Aggressive AI Push

Meta always plays the trump card in the end to remain relevant in the AI race and the firm led by Mark Zuckerberg has done it again. In a recent development, Meta has acquired Moltbook, dubbed the social networking platform for AI agents. With this move, Meta has shown its aggressive intentions of expansion and staying strong in the AI domain. This also shows that Meta is not in the mood to leave any opportunity to grab the AI talent or technology if it is up for grabs.
A spokesperson from Meta told TechCrunch that Moltbook is joining Meta Superintelligence labs. Furthermore, both Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr, the creators of Moltbook, will be joining the team at Meta as part of the acquisition. The deal terms between Meta and Moltbook have not been disclosed until now.
What Is OpenClaw And Why This AI Agent Is Attracting People In Their 60s?
Meta spokesperson said, ‘The Moltbook team joining MSL opens up new ways for AI agents to work for people and businesses. Their approach to connecting agents through an always-on directory is a novel step in a rapidly developing space, and we look forward to working together to bring innovative, secure agentic experiences to everyone.’
We have seen a similar thing happening with OpenClaw, as the creator of the same, Peter Steinberger, has joined OpenAI. That being said, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has also tried to downplay Moltbook by saying that it is nothing but a fad that is passing away.
As of now, it has not been revealed how Meta will be integrating Moltbook into its AI efforts. Just like last year, it was the war of acquiring as much talent as the companies could, this year, we are confident that the war will be about acquiring any technology that is related to AI, along with building things on their own.
