Microsoft Teases Next-Gen Xbox ‘Project Helix’ With PC Game Support: Here’s What To Expect

Redmond-based Microsoft has revealed its plan to unveil its next-generation gaming console. The tech giant on Thursday highlighted that its upcoming Xbox console, dubbed “Project Helix,” is under development. This upcoming gaming device is likely to succeed the current generation of the Xbox systems. According to Microsoft, the next generation of the Xbox console will have the ability to play both PC and Xbox games.
What Is Project Helix
Asha Sharma, the newly appointed Executive Vice President and CEO of Microsoft Gaming, took to X on Friday to announce the upcoming Project Helix. According to Sharma, the upcoming gaming console from Microsoft will support games designed for PCs and Xbox. In simple words, the upcoming Microsoft gaming consoles may allow gamers to run PC titles alongside those created exclusively for the Xbox platform.

To recall, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella noted last year that the tech giant was looking to ‘revisit’ the conventional wisdom, hinting that consoles and PCs are two different gadgets. He also suggested that the upcoming Xbox would be a Windows-friendly device, parting ways from the ‘walled garden’ nature of traditional consoles.
With this corroborated hint and buzzing leaks, the Project Helix appears to play PCgames across platforms like the Epic Games Store and Steam. The device will likely succeed Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
Expected Arrival Timeline
It is believed that the upcoming Microsoft gaming console could arrive by 2027. However, it is totally based on leaks and rumours. Microsoft is likely to share further details about the Project Helix at the upcoming Game Developers Conference. The company usually showcases and announces its latest developments at this conference.
Notably, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming confirmed that she will attend the Game Developers Conference. The gaming conference will take place from March 9 to March 13. It is a week-long event where the gaming community will gather to celebrate programming, games, and upcoming trends.
