WhatsApp Web vs WhatsApp Desktop Explained: Which One Is Faster, Safer And Better?

WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop both work on your PC or laptop, and the only difference is that WhatsApp Web runs on your browser, like Chrome, whereas WhatsApp Desktop runs as an application on your PC. Even with a subtle difference, it makes a huge impact on how users interact with the application, and here’s how.
Safety & Security
In terms of security, WhatsApp has an in-built feature of end-to-end encryption, with which your messages stay safe and secure. However, while using an anonymous PC in a cyber cafe, it is very important for a user to log out of their account once they are done using WhatsApp Web. As it will give access to your chats to other users as well.
Performance & Speed
While both the web and desktop versions serve the same purpose, they differ in terms of speed, performance and usability. As the desktop version offers the user much more access to calls, video calls, and notifications.
No Installation
WhatsApp offers a super easy installation for both the desktop and web versions of it. Just simply scan the QR code, and you can log in to the app with your computer. However, the desktop version does require you to download the app version from Chrome or from the App Store.
Alerts and Notifications
Even after closing the application, the user will still get notifications while using WhatsApp Desktop. Which is not the case in the web version, as if you close the window, you’ll no longer be disturbed by such notifications.
Which One Is Better?
Well, both versions perform seamlessly and have their own pros and cons, giving the user the choice as per their preference. To someone who doesn’t want to be disturbed while using their computer, the web version will suit you the best, as it won’t distract you with constant notification pops. But to someone who wants to stay updated on every message and call and also wants to attend video calls via laptop, the desktop version is well suited for them.
