Elon Musk-owned social media platform X (previously called Twitter) faced an outage on Saturday, with users in India and several other countries reporting problems accessing the app and website. According to users, posts were not loading, timelines were slow to refresh, and some people were unable to login.
The disruption appeared to affect both mobile and desktop users, though the company had not immediately issued an official statement at the time of writing.
In India, according to DownDetector, most users reported issues with the website (51 per cent), followed by problems with the feed and timeline (28 per cent), while 21 per cent flagged issues with the app. In the US and other regions, DownDetector said most complaints were about the app (37 per cent), followed by the website (26 per cent) and feed or timeline issues (20 per cent).
According to outage tracking website, the issue began around 3:11 pm. Since then, users in India and several other countries have reported problems accessing the platform. As of now, over 200 complaints have been logged from India and the US.
While the number is not very high compared to past major outages, it shows that several users faced temporary issues, such as posts not loading and difficulty using the app or website.
Meanwhile, X was not the only platform to face disruption. Around the same time, Reddit also experienced an outage, with users reporting issues accessing the app and website.
