Reddit Down: Reddit users reported widespread disruption on January 13, 2026, after the platform ran into technical issues. Downdetector logged more than 30,000 user reports, indicating that the problems were affecting access and core features across multiple regions.
As of 10:40 PM IST, Downdetector.com is showing nearly one lakh complaints, making this one of the largest outages seen so far.
According to Downdetector.com, 54 percent of users are reporting app-related problems, 39 percent are facing website issues, while the remaining 7 percent are experiencing server connection errors.
The disruption surfaced just hours after X, formerly Twitter, experienced a major technical outage earlier this evening.
Reddit acknowledged the disruption, stating that it had detected a spike in errors and was actively looking into the cause. Shortly after, the company confirmed that the issue had been traced and corrective measures were already being rolled out.
The outage impacted both Reddit’s web platform and its official mobile apps, affecting access and normal usage across devices.
As the Reddit app remained hit by a major outage, many users flocked to its rival platform, X, to vent their frustration and confirm whether the issue was widespread. The reactions ranged from confusion to humour, with several users sharing relatable posts.
One user wrote, “reddit is down after i just got into an argument on my -34 post.” Another joked, “Everyone rushing to twitter to see why reddit is down.” Some users questioned if the issue was personal, posting messages like, “Is Reddit down, or am I the only one facing issues right now?” and “is reddit down or my account got bANNED.”
Others highlighted how abruptly the outage interrupted them, with one saying, “girl is reddit down rn, i was only looking for advice damn.” Another summed up the day’s tech troubles, posting, “First X went down. Then Reddit. Then even the banking app Monzo, it’s going to be a bad Tuesday.” One user admitted initial panic, adding, “So yeah, Reddit is actually down. I thought my account got shadowbanned or something.”
