India Uses Gemini AI More Than Any Other Country For Learning: Google

At its AI for Learning event in Delhi, Google revealed that India now leads the world in daily Gemini AI usage for learning. Citing a recent Ipsos survey, the US-based tech giant said that learning has become the top reason people use AI globally for the first time and India is at the centre of this shift.
According to the company, Indian students are using Gemini daily for studies, exam preparation, quizzes and guided learning more than users in any other country.
Google also highlighted strong optimism around AI in education with 74 per cent of Indians believing AI can improve student outcomes. However, the company stressed that this opportunity comes with responsibility and its focus is on building AI tools that support students and teachers rather than replacing traditional learning methods.

As part of this effort, Google announced an Rs 85 crore Google.org grant to Wadhwani AI. The funding will help expand adaptive learning tools for 75 million students and more than 1.8 million teachers across India by 2027. This programme will support learning from early education to college, as well as early-career professionals.
Google’s Gemini Now Offers Free JEE Mains Prep Tests

Google is also deepening its engagement with the public education system. It has partnered with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut to help build India’s first AI-enabled state university and create a national framework for modernising vocational education using AI and cloud technologies.
On the product side, Google announced several India-focused updates. Full-length JEE Main practice tests are coming to Gemini, built using verified content from PhysicsWallah and Careers360. These tests will also be available through AI Mode in Google Search.

Students will also get new tools in AI Mode to create study guides and interactive quizzes using a Canvas-style side panel. For teachers, Gemini is being integrated more deeply into Google Classroom with features like AI-powered lesson planning, native audio and video feedback and insights into AI usage by students.
Google also showcased early results from a classroom study conducted in Lucknow, which found that most students using Gemini’s Guided Learning feature focused on understanding concepts instead of just asking for answers.
The tech giant also said Gemini, NotebookLM, AI Mode in Search and Google Classroom are now available in multiple Indian languages which will help reach students beyond metro cities.
