Uber Eats Down: Thousands Report Outages Across US – Why Is The App Not Working?

Users across the United States are reporting major problems with Uber Eats on Friday, with many saying the service is currently unavailable.
According to DownDetector, reports of outages began around 1.30 pm EDT on Friday and grew rapidly within minutes. By 1.40 pm, nearly 4,000 outage reports had been logged.

People trying to order food were met with app crashes, missing menus and error messages. Some users said they could not even access the Uber Eats section inside the main Uber app.

Social media quickly filled with complaints as frustrated customers vented about the problem. Many turned to X to share their confusion and irritation over the outage.
One user wrote, “Imagine being hungry and Uber Eats app goes down.” Another said, “So my Uber Eats app just stopped working as my order is on its way.”
Others raised concerns about reliability, especially those subscribed to Uber One. One customer questioned the value of the membership, saying they felt they were “wasting money” when the service fails during times of need. Another user added that they rarely order food, and of course, the one day they try, the entire service stops working.
According to early outage reports, Uber Eats appears to be the hardest hit among Uber’s services. Many users said they could still use the rideshare part of the Uber app, but anything that involved food delivery would not work at all.
Some customers said their food was already being delivered when the app suddenly stopped working.
So far, Uber has not shared any official information about what caused the problem or when the service will be fixed.
