nthropic’s popular AI chatbot Claude seems to be experiencing a major outage on Tuesday, affecting users in India and the United States. As per the outage-tracking platform Downdetector, hundreds of users reported issues while trying to access Claude’s services. In the United States, nearly 1,400 users reported issues at approximately 09:02 AM EST.
Most complaints were related to Claude Chat, which accounted for 46 per cent of reports. Another 33 per cent of users reported problems with the mobile app, while 12 per cent faced issues with the Claude Code.
Anthropic Confirms Claude Outage
Anthropic’s official service status page says the company is investigating the issue. The latest update reads, “Update – We are investigating reports of degraded performance affecting claude.ai, platform.claude.com, the Claude API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. We will provide an update as soon as possible.
Moreover, the service status page also listed “Elevated errors on claude.ai, Claude Code, Claude Cowork and the Claude API.”
Frustrated Claude Users Take To X
As Claude users faced problems accessing the chatbot and other services, several users took to X to check whether others were experiencing the same issue. Some users said they had been unable to use Claude for several minutes, while others appeared to turn to X to confirm that the outage was not limited to their accounts.
An X user by the handle @Shubhashish wrote, “Here we go, claude is down folks.. and withing 20 seconds we are all on X.”
Another user wrote, “Claude is down for 20 minutes already. Is anyone else having the same issue?” The outage also led users to discuss the disruption on X as reports of problems continued to appear. For people who rely on Claude for coding, writing and other daily tasks, the service disruption meant they were temporarily unable to access some of Anthropic’s AI tools.
Discussing the Claude Code interruption, X user by the handle @Kisalay_ wrote, “Claude is down for some users right now. I just got the temporarily unavailable screen. Scheduled tasks would not even load. If your chat is stuck on Reconnect, you are not alone. Are you seeing it too?”
