It seems the wait for a touchscreen MacBook is finally coming to an end. Apple may introduce its first-ever MacBook Pro with a touchscreen OLED display by October-end or November first week. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is reportedly working on new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models that will feature OLED displays with touch support.
If the latest reports are accurate, this could become one of the biggest changes to Apple’s MacBook lineup in years.
The company is reportedly testing new laptops with macOS 27.2, which is currently in beta. The timing is interesting because macOS 27.2 is expected to arrive towards the end of October. This has led to speculation that Apple could announce the new MacBook Pro models around the same time.
The upcoming laptops are expected to come with OLED displays and touch support. Apple is also reportedly working on a thinner design, which could make the new MacBook Pro look different from the current models.
M5 Pro And M5 Max Chips Expected
The touchscreen MacBook Pro models are expected to use Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. These laptops could also replace the existing display notch with a Dynamic Island-style cutout.
There has also been speculation around cellular connectivity. Apple has previously explored the idea of Macs with built-in cellular connectivity, allowing users to connect to mobile networks without depending on an iPhone hotspot.
However, there is no confirmation yet that the upcoming MacBook Pro models will get Apple’s C1X or C2 modem.
The touchscreen models could sit above Apple’s regular 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro variants. For now, Apple has not officially confirmed the touchscreen MacBook Pro. If the reports are accurate, however, we may not have to wait much longer to see Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook become official.
