Apple’s Surprise and Shine event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 PM IST in India. The Cupertino-based tech giant is rumoured to announce its first foldable iPhone, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models and other devices during the much-hyped Apple event. Now, with just a few hours left until showtime, a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that the device will be called iPhone Duo, not iPhone Ultra.
For months, Apple’s first foldable iPhone has been referred to as the iPhone Ultra in leaks and reports. But according to Gurman, Apple is planning go with the iPhone Duo name to highlight the phone’s two-screen design.
Also, the Apple iPhone Duo is expected to sit at the very top of Apple’s smartphone lineup, with a price that could make it the company’s most expensive iPhone ever.
iPhone Ultra (Duo) Price In India, USA, Dubai
According to Gurman’s latest report, the foldable iPhone could start at $2,000 for the 256GB model. Higher storage variants could reportedly push the price to around $3,000.
In Dubai, the device is rumoured to be priced around AED 7,340. The higher-storage version, on the other hand, cost around around AED 11,020. However, the actual UAE retail price can be different once Apple announces local pricing. So, for now, these figures should be treated as estimated prices and not official UAE pricing.
In India, the final price is expected to be considerably higher after taxes, duties and other costs are added. Earlier reports had suggested that Apple’s foldable could cost close to Rs 2.10 lakh or even more in the country. If Apple prices the top-end model close to $3,000, the Indian price will easily reach the Rs 3 lakh mark.
iPhone Ultra Availability
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but its retail availability could come slightly later. According to Gurman’s report, the device could go on sale as early as October.
This would not be unusual for a first-generation foldable. the iPhone maker is reportedly facing production challenges because of the complex folding mechanism and other components used in the device.
The gap between the announcement and actual availability is still expected to be relatively short.
iPhone Ultra Design, Camera, Specifications
The iPhone Ultra is expected to use a book-style design, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series. It is rumoured to offer a 7.8-inch internal display and a 5.5-inch external screen. The design is reportedly wider and shorter than some existing foldable phones.
Apple is also reportedly working on a magnetic hinge system for the foldable. This may help the company deliver a more refined folding mechanism while keeping the device relatively slim. The phone is reportedly expected to launch in white and dark blue colour options.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to focus on a simple but capable camera setup. According to Gurman’s report, the device could feature two 48-megapixel rear cameras and a 12-megapixel front camera.
