Artificial intelligence has become a part of our life helping users to search the web, drafting emails, generating videos and more. Keeping the focus on AI, Google announced several updates to its Gemini models at I/O 2026. The nearly two-hour keynote was filled with Gemini updates and how the company wants to expand its ecosystem aggressively. Here are five big AI updates the Sundar Pichai-led firm announced:
Gemini 3.5
The tech giant rolled out a new generation of AI models, dubbed Gemini 3.5. This first version to launch is Gemini 3.5 Flash, while the company is expected to bring the Gemini 3.5 Pro by next month. Notably, the Gemini 3.5 can offer faster responses to users. Google claims that the model can perform better than many existing AI models on various benchmark tests, including the Gemini 3.1 Pro.
Moreover, Gemini 3.5 Flash has become the default model in Google’s Search AI Mode and Gemini apps.
Gemini Omni
One of the major updates announced at I/O is the Omni. Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis has called the tech a key step ahead towards achieving artificial general intelligence, referred to as AGI. This model can understand and generate various forms of media including text, images, audio and video. Users will get the desired outcome as Google claims the model uses “real-world knowledge” to generate content.
The initial Gemini Omni Flash model will be first rolled out to Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra users through the Google Flow and Gemini app. Additionally, the company plans to bring it to YouTube Shorts and the YouTube Create app later this week.
Gemini Spark
Gemini Spark is another big update. The company described it as a personal AI agent that is capable of working across the Google ecosystem. It collects information from Gmail, Docs and other apps to prepare your summaries, updates and tasks on its own without much human intervention.
It uses cloud technology which means that the AI system does not require special hardware to run. Google AI Ultra users in the US will soon receive access to Spark inside Gmail and Google chat in the next week.
Subscription Pricing
The tech firm has revealed changes to its AI subscription prices. Google reduced the starting price of its Google AI Ultra to $200 per month, and introduced a cheaper $99 monthly Ultra tier. In India, the Google AI Plus costs Rs 399/month, Google AI Pro is priced at Rs 1,950/month and the Google AI Ultra comes at Rs 6,500/month.

Neural Expressive
Gemini app has received a fresh makeover through a new design language called Neural Expressive. The company now offers smoother animations, stronger haptic feedback and brighter colours across Android, iOS and desktop ecosystem. This update also integrates Gemini Live vice interactions into the main interface and removes the need to switch between various modes during conversations.
This year’s Google I/O made one thing clear: Google no longer sees AI as a side feature. The company wants Gemini to become a constant digital companion, one that can search, create, organise and communicate naturally across devices and apps.
