Ahead of much anticipated iPhone 18 launch event in September, Apple, in an unexpected move, on Tuesday announced its latest Mac mini and Mac Studio models in India. The new Mac mini is powered by the all-new M6 and M5 Pro chips, while the new Mac Studio comes with M5 Max and the all-new M5 Ultra.
The iPhone maker, in a statement, says that it is also focusing on AI with its new Macs, which can handle heavy tasks like AI development, video editing, game development and other professional work more easily.
Apple Mac mini With M6, M5 Pro: Price In India
The M6-powered Mac mini starts at Rs 99,900 in India, while the education price starts at Rs 88,990. The Mac mini with M5 Pro starts at Rs 2,09,900, with the education price set at Rs 1,97,900.
Both models come with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. They also feature upgraded 2.5Gb Ethernet, with a 10Gb Ethernet option available.
The new Mac mini with the M6 chip is claimed to deliver up to 4x faster AI performance, 2x faster graphics and 2x faster storage compared with the previous generation. Apple also says the CPU performance is up to 40 per cent faster.
Apple Mac Studio With M5 Max, M5 Ultra
The Cupertino-based tech giant has also introduced its new Mac Studio for professional users. It is available with the M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips and is designed for users working on AI, video production, software development and other demanding tasks.
Apple claims the new Mac Studio can deliver up to 4.3x faster AI performance, up to 2x faster storage, 1.8x faster graphics and 1.3x faster CPU performance.
The Mac Studio with M5 Max starts at Rs 2,79,900, while the M5 Ultra model starts at Rs 6,29,900 in India.
The Mac Studio also gets up to six Thunderbolt 5 ports and can support up to eight displays. It also comes with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
Apple M6 And M5 Ultra Chips
The M6 is Apple’s first 2nm chip and features a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. It offers up to 170GB/s of unified memory bandwidth.
The M5 Ultra is designed for Apple’s most demanding professional and AI workloads. It features up to a 36-core CPU, an 80-core GPU and up to 1.2TB/s of unified memory bandwidth.
“M5 Ultra, the ultimate powerhouse for pro and AI workloads, uses next-generation UltraFusion technology to form a quad-die architecture — the first time for Apple silicon,” the company noted.
