Anthropic’s Claude May Come To Microsoft Teams Despite Copilot Rivalry: Here’s How

With the rise of AI agents, the tech companies are rushing to build their best tools. While the competition grows, some may even surprisingly come together to work on them. Anthropic is gearing up to bring its Claude AI assistant to Microsoft Teams, even though Microsoft already offers its own Copilot AI inside the workplace messaging platform, according to The Information.
If launched, the move may let Teams users access Claude for work-related tasks without leaving the app.

Anthropic Wants Claude Inside Teams
As per the publication, Anthropic has informed Microsoft that it is developing a Claude integration for Microsoft Teams. This feature is likely to work in a similar way to the recently launched Claude integration for Slack.
If rolled, Teams users may call on Claude directly within chats and meetings to summarise conversations, answer questions, analyse documents and perform other workplace tasks. Businesses may also be able to connect Claude to their internal databases and enterprise applications, letting the AI assistant retrieve information and complete more advanced tasks.
Although neither Microsoft nor Anthropic has officially announced a launch date, discussions between the two companies suggest the feature is under development.
At first glance, the move may appear surprising because Microsoft already sells Copilot, its own AI assistant that is integrated into Teams and other Microsoft 365 apps. However, the Satya Nadella-led firm has increasingly positioned Teams as an open platform rather than a closed ecosystem. Just as smartphone app stores allow multiple developers to offer competing services, Teams already supports third-party AI tools built by companies including Linear, Perplexity and Cursor.
Last week, Anthropic and Salesforce introduced Claude Tag, a feature that allows Slack users to bring Claude inside conversations. The AI can review discussions, answer questions and complete workplace tasks by connecting with business software and databases.
If Claude eventually comes on Microsoft Teams, it will promote an open AI ecosystem where businesses choose from multiple AI assistants instead of being tied to a single provider.
