Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 in the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. Amidst all this, a new leak has caused a lot of ruckus in the industry and why not, because it signs a death note for one of the most amazing lineups by Samsung. According to a new leak shared by popular tipster Ice Universe, Samsung could end the Galaxy Z Flip lineup with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 being the last one. Multiple reports related to the matter also suggest that one of the reasons behind the same could be the expanding foldable portfolio of Samsung.
Another major contributor to the same could be the pricing, as industry reports say that rising DRAM and memory prices are also increasing production costs for smartphone manufacturers. This could push the starting price of Galaxy Z Flip 8 up to EUR 1,299. At this price point, the device will be competing with the flagship phones, where consumers may expect top notch sensors, high-end hardware, and large batteries as well.
That’s not it, the report also suggests that the future of the Flip series cannot be said with surety until Galaxy Z Flip 8 reaches the market and the company gets to see the response to it from the audience. Furthermore, Samsung will also keep a tab on the customer demand and sales performance before coming to a long term decision. Other rumours related to the phone suggest that Samsung may skip the next one or two generations of the phone and bring it back once the memory prices normalise a little bit. While the rumours seem to be true and there are chances that it might happen, we still don’t know anything official as Samsung has not confirmed anything. On a concluding note, the readers are suggested to take the information with a grain of salt.
